Rules to Follow as an Elective
As an elective, you will be responsible for following all the rules - including elective rules - within the Code of Conduct. Ignorance is not a plausible excuse for the infraction of rules as an elective.
The following rules must be followed at all times:
As an elective, you are not allowed to be inactive for 5 days straight without a Leave of Absence (LOA) badge. During your LOA, you are required to check in with each of your division members and your assigned Leader to withhold success in your division.
Having Discussions and Resolving Conflicts
With your new responsibilities and front seat to the development of HIA, you will find yourself now directly participating in discussions relating to changes and modifications. With this, you will begin to talk with many more members in order to accomplish your task. It is highly encouraged for all members to express their opinions, but understand that it must be done so in a respectful way.
Try to listen to others and see what they have to say - see why they think this way - and try having a discussion rather than a debate or argument. Being able to just listen and have a sense of compassion and understanding for others will provide many benefits later down the road, both in HIA and real life. It will allow you to be both a better speaker and mediator overall.
Being an elective requires you to maintain and uphold a peaceful and friendly environment where members can enjoy interacting with others. If you see people arguing and getting aggressive with one another, you will be responsible for stopping it. Here are a few quick tips:
There are many people you are able to go to if you are not able to stop an argument. If that is the case, please contact the following groups of people:
You can contact them by sending a personal message on Discord or requesting for someone to help you on any given channel.
Remember, if it is possible, you should not start or be involved in arguments. As an elective, you must set an example. Getting involved without any need to can get you in trouble if it gets too out of hand. If you are having difficulties, please remember to contact another elective member to help defuse the situation.
Expectancy of an Elective
With new powers as an elective comes more responsibilities. Each elective has an area of operations to oversee and is required to improve and fix any issues regarding that field. The Directorates and the Chief of Staff Team could also delegate other tasks regarding your specific area. There are many tasks that an elective can do, but they include but are not limited to:
Information Gathering
Promotional Activities
Electives are required to inform the Chief of Staff regarding any form of activity in their audit. Large-scale events may require an event proposal and approval from other parties including the Chief of Staff Team. Any form of policy or script changes, and proposals will have to go through the Chief of Staff Team before the changes are officialized and published.
An overwhelming majority of electives and special units also utilize Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Forms, and Google Sheets to complete, submit, and collaboratively work on Elective tasks. It is by far the most effective way to organize your work and files while having high compatibility to collaborate and share your work. It is highly recommended that you familiarize yourself with Google’s software as an elective.
